Who We Are
Last Frontier Adventure Club is an online meeting place for outdoor enthusiasts to share information with one another. Just went on a great hike? Tell us about it. Looking to find a new and interesting peak to climb in your area? Look for it here. Our goal is to make information about trails, climbs, gear, and techniques readily available to anyone interested in spending time outdoors in Alaska. Then when those people come back from their adventures, hopefully they will share their experiences, and add to the available resources for others later on.
The Idea
Ever get on the internet and try to find information about a trail you would like to hike, or a place you remember having been here in Alaska? If you're like me, you probably found very limited information. When we're heading out for a weekend adventure, we want to know things like, how far, how high, what might I expect to encounter, is it safe for me to bring the kids, will I need any special equipment? Most of the time it's pretty hard to find that kind of information for most of the trails and climbs around Alaska. There are many different guide books out there, all packed with valuable information, but you can't search them all quickly and efficiently. Besides, the most accurate and up-to-date information you could possibly have, is going to come from the people who have most recently been in the area.
Chances are, if you're reading this, you're the type of person who gets out regularly anyway; maybe with friends or the family. Somewhere out there, there are thousands of other people just like you, who spend time on Alaska's various trails and in its various backcountry areas. If we come together, and share our experiences, our photos, our videos, and our stories, about the places we go on a regular basis, we will create an accurate and current snapshot of Alaska's outdoor scene, that will be unrivaled. In doing so, we will encourage others who may not already be doing so, to get out there and enjoy these places too. We can answer people's questions. We can show them new places to check out. We can meet new friends and find new hiking buddies. Everyone will benefit.
The Reward
We will create a community, of like minded individuals, that will support each other in their interest for spending time in the outdoors. We will promote a healthy and active lifestyle. We will showcase the amazing recreational opportunities our state has to offer, not only to other fellow Alaskans, but to anyone who happens to find us from elsewhere. We will share for the benefit of others, but we ourselves will benefit by receiving feedback and suggestions from others.
If this sounds like something you would like to be a part of, I'd encourage you to join our club. It's free! And once you join I'd like to encourage you to share as much as can.
Right now we are in the very beginning phases of creating this club. Any ideas or suggestions you have to offer would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
Erik Halfacre
